Riders gathered for a short and sweet run to get out of the heat and ended the ride with a sweet treat.
Nine riders took off to the cooler temps at higher elevations of Big Cottonwood Canyon to escape the 100+ degree in the valley. Ride concluded at Coldstone Creamery for a cool and creamy treat. The Red Rock Spyder Rally is an annual event coordinated, hosted, and ran by Katlyn Gommerman, as well as many SRA and non-SR members and volunteers. The event welcomed 400 riders from 3 countries, 30 states, and 3 Canadian provinces with more than a dozen vendors on hand. Next year's event is scheduled to be held in St George, UT during the last week of September 2017. More information and photos can be found at www.redrockspyderrally.com. July 17, 2016Riders met on a beautiful and warm late morning in South Salt Lake and headed east out of the Salt Lake Valley towards the Wasatch back. The destination was a quaint little diner in Oakley, UT called the Road Island Diner. Riders enjoyed a beautiful ride and a delicious lunch at the diner. It was the perfect Sunday ride! July 10, 2016Riders met on a beautiful morning in Midvale for a scenic and historic ride through the largest coal mining operations in the United States, right in the heart of Carbon County Utah. Riders carved the canyons along US Highway 6 and 89, took in views of the landslide that buried the town of Thistle, and visited the towns of Scofield and Fairview UT. Oct. 17, 2015Riders met on a beautiful and cool early fall day for bagels and coffee in Midvale before heading out to Kamas for lunch. Riders traveled through the scenic Big Cottonwood Canyon and over Guardsman's Pass into Kamas. Ride was cut short due to weather over nearby Mirror Lake. Riders enjoyed a meal at the Mirror Lake Diner in Kamas before heading back through Big Cottonwood Canyon, trying to escape the impending rain. Sept. 20, 2015Nine riders met on a beautiful late summer day in Murray, UT and headed out past Park City and Jordanelle Resevoir through Parley's Canyon and Heber Valley with lunch at Soilder Hollow.
Ride continued from Midway up and over Guardsman's Pass with breathtaking views of the Big Cottonwood Canyon with the fall colors in full bloom. Ride ended at the western end Big Cottonwood Canyon and a sweet treat in Midvale. July 19, 2015Ten riders met for the first ever meeting in the formation of the Spyder Ryder of America - Great Salt Lake Chapter.
Meeting was held in Sandy, UT and was followed by a short ride through the mountains with ice cream at Dairy Queen. This was the beginning of the SRA-GSL chapter. |
